This software provides a free to use telephone interface for audio as well as video communication within a office over the LAN or over the internet. It’ll work with communication servers provided by others as well as the same publishers.
OfficeSIP Softphone allows complete audio and video communication within your organization whether over a local area network or over the Internet. That way it is really like the equivalent of any number of voice and video chat applications available such as Skype, Yahoo messenger, Google talk etc. The interface is really very simple and uncomplicated as the publishers claim. You log-in, connect with a party and start talking. There is no profusion of buttons on the interface that are likely to confuse you. The SIP voice servers it’ll work with include MS Office Communications Server, CommuniGate Pro and the free Office SIP Server.
Though the publishers claim exceptional quality of audio and video they are, in reality, limited. The audio communication is based on VoIP and that has some inherent voice quality problem. Similarly the quality of the video, particularly over the Internet will depend a lot of the bandwidth available end to end. But, this is also true that it would be no worse off than other similar applications. Those too would face similar problems. VoIP and the video usually would be reasonable for office communication if you have a broadband connection to the cloud of course.
